What is Zaatar?
Zaatar is a popular Middle Eastern seasoning blend that combines the flavors of herbs, spices, and sumac. The exact ingredients may vary depending on the region or personal preference, but common components include thyme, oregano, marjoram, toasted sesame seeds, and sumac. My love affair with Zaatar seasoning began when I discovered the flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine in Toronto, Canada many years back. With numerous amazing eateries to choose from, I fell head over heels for Zaatar Manakeesh – essentially an Arabic pizza that’s irresistible! My family, including my grandkids, can’t get enough of this delicious flatbread. Recently, I took the plunge and made it at home using my sourdough starter… and oh, it’s absolutely divine! 🌟👌

I have already shared few recipes I have prepared using Zaatar seasoning like Zaatar Pita Chips, Crispy Smashed Mediterranean Potatoes, Crispy Garlic Baby Potatoes. My favourite way of using this seasoning everyday in avocado toast sprinkled with zaatar seasoning.
