Dear Friends,
This is a very traditional spicy lassi/buttermilk recipe. In India we like to have lassi as a side dish with many of our traditional dishes. It is very common to have lassi during lunch. Some people do like sweet lassi but many like it with salt and some spice. It gets very hot in India, so this is very refreshing drink. I prepared this lassi with traditional Gujarati food called Olo/Baigan Bharta.
I have not written measurement for any of the ingredients. You can make it thick or thin, salt or no salt is completely up to you.
Preparation Time: less than 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 0 minutes
Ingredients:
Plain yogurt
Salt
Cumin powder
Cumin seeds
Oil
Coriander leaves
Procedure:
1. In a pot add yogurt and whisk so no lumps remain. Add cumin powder, salt and mix well. Add water to desire consistency and few ice cubes.
2. In a small pan, heat 1 tsp oil. Add cumin seeds and saute until it turn golden brown. Pour this mixture with whisked yogurt.
3. Masala Chaas is now ready. Before serving, garnish with chopped coriander leaves. You can also add mint leaves. Enjoy this cool lassi by itself or with any spicy food.
Must try this very easy to make lassi anytime of the year. It will make you feel refreshed and energized.
