Paneer Tikka Masala

Dear Friends,

Presenting Paneer Tikka Masala, spicy tangy vegetable is so flavorful and delicious, I am sure it won’t last longer. It can be eaten with rice or roti. This recipe feeds around 5 people.

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

Paneer – 400 gm
Onion – 2
Red and Green pepper – 1 each
Tomato / Tomato puree – 2 / 1 1/2 cup
Strained / Thick yogurt – 1 cups
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Oil for cooking
Salt to taste
Water – 1/4 cup

Marinate
Ginger Garlic paste – 2 tbsp
Yogurt – 2 cup
Besan – 1 tbsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric / Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Mint leaves 4-5 or dry mint powder -1/4 tsp
Chopped green chilies – 2
Salt to taste

Procedure

1. Prepare marinate by mixing all the ingredients in a big bowl. Chop Paneer in 1 inch rectangular cubes, 1 onion in big pieces layer separated and also chop green and red pepper in a big cubes.

2. Soak Paneer in marinate. Heat a not stick pan, add 1 tbsp of oil and sauté paneer until it is gold brown from all the sides about 2-3 minutes. Follow the same process for onion, green pepper and red pepper.

3.In pan boil onion water for 2-3 minutes or until it is little soft. Drain the water and make a smooth paste. If you are not using ready-made tomato puree, you can also add tomato with onion in boiling water and make a paste.

4. In a pan heat 2 tbsp oil, add 1 tsp cumin seeds. When cumin seeds are sautéed add onion paste, 1 tsp of chili powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala powder. Saute the mixture on medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Add 1 1/2 cup tomato puree and saute for 3-4 minutes. Then add whisked thick yogurt and if any leftover marinate and add it to the pan.

5. Stir the mixture and simmer on low for 1-2 minute and add sautéed paneer, onion, green and red pepper and let it simmer for another minute or two.

6. Enjoy this spicy and rich dish with rice and/or roti.
