Welcome everyone to my website! I’m so excited and thrilled to have 20k followers 🙏
My name is Bhavna, the brain behind this website. I started this website 5 years back just thinking that my kids will use it. But it went beyond them. I work in a multinational firm in Finance department. I have no IT background but I learned so much during the process. I developed my own website, designed it, created recipes, taking pictures, writing the post. Recently I started YouTube channel so now I am learning how to put together video recipes. I do need your support in next chapter of my journey, do subscribe (it’s free) to my channel and help me so I can bring even more easy, healthy recipes in video format for you all.
I am married for 36 years. When I got married, I didn’t know how to cook even simple khichdi.
When I was small, I didn’t know how to cook but I always paid attention when my mom cooked. I will ask her question, ingredients and recipe (not sure why…lol). I remember when I was around 12-13 years of age, I guided my masi (aunt) to make mohan thal/besan barfi as I knew the recipe (my curiosity helped 😉 ). I am sure she remembers too 😃 . I have an older sister who helped mom in cooking and I will help in preparing roti. So I was expert in making roti at very young age. When my mom used to tell me to learn cooking I will tell her that why should I learn twice, my husband family may not have similar taste (good excuse!😂)
Thank God that I had a very caring mother-in-law who was very patient with me. At that time we didn’t have social media, cell phone. computer, etc. You can imagine how hard was it to learn new recipes or cuisine. I remember reading recipes from newspaper and magazines or talking to friends, neighbours and get the recipe and try it on my family. I still remember, the 1st food show I was following was Sanjeev Kapoor. I learned a lot seeing him cook on TV. Once I learned the basic food, I started experimenting. My new family were easy to please, and they liked what I prepared. Gradually, I started creating my own recipes and shared with my friends and family. When I hear from my friends that they remember me every time they make a certain dish I showed them, it gives me a great satisfaction!
Apart from cooking, I have done a lot of oil paintings. My another passion is travelling and have visited 34 countries so far. I love to travel with my husband who is my biggest supporter in everything I do. Both my children and their spouses encourages me to try new things and guides me with latest technology.
I am looking forward to share with you all many healthy and easy-to-cook recipes. I always say, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know how to cook, if you are willing to learn, you will be a great cook one day. Cooking is not about making fancy dishes. I prefer easy, simple and healthy food. I don’t like spending too much time in kitchen so planning is everything. There is a saying that “the way to a man’s (anyone’s) heart is through his (her) stomach” and I strongly believe in it.
Hope you enjoyed learning about my life. I may be able to inspire you to take the 1st step in cooking and run the marathon.
Take care and lots of love
