Hello Fellow Chefs,
In India people eat more of this kind of stir fry than salads, it is called sambharo in Gujarati. This stir is slightly sautéed using simple ingredients. This recipe is so simple yet very delicious. I am using cabbage, broccoli and pepper. I also added jalapeno which gives this dish a spice kick 😛 . This side dish complements our main dish which is roti, curried vegetable, dal and rice. It’s nutritious, colourful, and perfect for lunch or dinner!
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
1 jalapeno thinly sliced
1 green pepper cut in thin strips
1 cup broccoli florets separated
1 1/2 cup cabbage thinly sliced
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking
Chopped coriander/cilantro for garnishing
1. Chop all vegetables and keep them separate. Sprinkle little salt on shredded cabbage.
2. In a pan, heat oil on medium heat. Add mustard and cumin seeds to the oil. When the seeds start to pop, add jalapeno and green pepper and saute for a minute. Then add cabbage and saute covering the lid. In 2-3 minutes cabbage will start to change the colour then add broccoli, lemon juice and mix well. Adjust salt if needed. Saute for 1 more minute. Remove from the heat. Vegetables in this dish needs slight crunch so don’t over cook.
3. When ready, transfer to clean bowl. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves Enjoy this side dish with your main dish during lunch or dinner.
