Plum Chutney

Chutney is a condiment served with all the meals and with many dishes. It’s like a dip. I make many different varieties of chutney, this one is prepared using plums. When it is ready, the colour and the taste are amazing. Whenever I serve this chutney during get together at my place, it is always a big hit. I served plum chutney with spring roll.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 0 minutes

Ingredients:

Red plums – 5
Chopped coriander leaves with stems – 1 cups
Chopped red onion – 1
Ginger – 1 inch cube
Red/Green chilies – 2
Olive oil – 1 tbsp
Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Procedure

1. Wash and roughly chop coriander, ginger, and green chilies. Cut plums in big pieces.

2. In a blender/mixer, add all the ingredients and grind to a smooth paste.

3. Chutney is now ready. Put in the Fridge immediately. You will see the chutney turns deep red in few hours. Serve this sweet, spicy and tangy chutney (dip) with spring roll, samosa or pakoda (fritter).
Plum chutney

You can store it for 1-2 months in a deep freezer. Use the air tight container or a baby food bottles to store, and remove one bottle at a time to use.
