My husband and I are huge fan of South Indian cuisine. We can eat South Indian food every single day just like Gujarati food. We absolutely love it!! ❤❤ One of our favourite dish is Mysore masala dosa.
I thought of making red chutney for Mysore masala dosa so many times but never a good time. This time when I decided to make dosa again, I remember red chutney. I decided to make premix. During the day when I am working, I don’t have much time to prepare my lunch so I like to be prepared during weekend. I saw many recipes where they make wet red chutney, I did not want to make wet chutney ahead of time. So I thought why not make dry one and add water last minute. So came up with this recipe. Now I have enough premix which will last me for few months. It took me 5-7 minutes to prepare this premix.
I used this chutney while making dosa and it tasted better than restaurant, absolutely delicious! I made it spicy, the taste remained in mouth for whole day 😋😋. I can also use this premix in my paratha, uthappam, etc.
Preparation Time: 5-7 minutes
Cooking Time: 0 minutes
Ingredients:
3 tbsp roasted chana dal (daalia) powder
½ tbsp kashmiri or medium hot chili powder
½ tbsp garlic powder
½ tbsp onion powder
½ tbsp coriander powder
¼ tbsp turmeric powder
Pinch of asafoetida
½ tbsp salt
Procedure
1. In a bowl or a plate, mix all the ingredients using clean hands. You can store this in a clean dry jar in your pantry for few months.
2. When you are planning to make Mysore dosa, mix couple teaspoon premix with water and make slightly thick paste.
3. Spread dosa batter on pan (tawa), let it cook slightly. Then spread this paste and add some oil/butter. You can add potato masala if you want masala dosa. When dosa is slightly brown/crispy from the bottom, slowly separate from pan with flat spatula. Roll or fold in triangle and serve immediately. I served Mysore masala dosa with toor (lentil) daal rasam and chana urad dal chutney. The meal at it’s best!!
