Coriander Basil Chutney

Hello Friends,

Chutney is a condiment served with all the meals and with many dishes. It is like a dip. I make many different varieties of chutney, this one is made of mainly coriander leaves and sweet basil. Basil gives a nice and refreshing flavor to this chutney.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Cooking Time: 0 minutes

Ingredients:

Chopped coriander leaves with stems – 2 cups
Chopped sweet basil – 1 cup
Garlic – 3-4 cloves
Ginger – 1 inch cube
Green chilies – 2
Peanuts – 1 tbsp
Olive oil – 1 tbsp
Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
Salt to taste

Procedure

1. Roughly chop coriander and basil leaves, ginger, garlic and green chilies.

2. In a blender/mixer, fist grind garlic, ginger, green chilies, and peanuts with little water and make slightly smooth paste.

3. In the same blender add chopped coriander leaves and basil leaves and blend it until it is smooth. Add lemon juice, olive oil and salt and blend it for 30 seconds. Chutney is now ready. Put in the Fridge immediately so it doesn’t change the colour. You can store it for 1-2 months in a deep freezer. Use the small container or baby food bottles to store, and remove one bottle at a time to use.

  1. hi – Thanks for the recipe! Just a minor note. In your recipe text you are missing basil leaves in the blender. Unless i am missing something. I am going to give this a try!

    1. Olive oil gives shine to the chutney. For green colour, when I make chutney I add enough lemon juice while grinding to keep the colour. Remove from jar and store in the fridge immediately. I store in small bottle in freezer and pull out when I need it. It keeps green until I finish all. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by :)!!
