Dear Friends,
Thanks to my sister for inspiring me to try this recipe. My sister just visited Kerala and one side dish she absolutely loved was Mango Pachadi. She was mentioning some ingredients which she thought were in the recipe. Based on our conversation, I decided to make this chutney. I love all the ingredients which goes into the chutney and was sure it will taste great. I really enjoyed it when it was ready. It had sweetness and tang from mango and flavour of coconut. This chutney can go with many appetizer or South Indian dishes.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: Less than 10 minutes
Ingredients:
1 big mango cut in small pieces
1 red onion finely chopped
1 cup coconut milk
2 garlic clove grated or chopped finely
2 green/red chilies finely chopped
1 tsp urad dal
1 tsp cumin powder
Small pinch of asafoetida
5-7 curry leaves
1/4 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Oil for cooking
Procedure:
1. Prepare all the ingredients before start cooking.
2. In pan, heat oil. Add cumin seeds and urad dal and saute for a minutes. Then add chopped green/red chilies, curry leaves and asafoetida. In few seconds add chopped onion, garlic and mango. Let it cook on low to medium heat for 2-3 minutes stirring every few seconds. Then add red chili powder and turmeric powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes. I mashed the mixture with hand masher or just press with spoon so mango breaks slightly while it is cooking. At the end, add 1 cup coconut milk, mix well and turn off the heat.
3. Transfer the chutney in a clean bowl and garnish with chopped coriander leaves. This chutney is spicy, slightly sweet and tangy. Coconut adds a lot of flavour to it.
Try this very easy to make chutney which is ready in few minutes.
